Someone has to sleep at the office for one of three reasons: they lost their apartment, they got kicked out of their house, or they're lonely.

• The Dick Van Dyke Show: Season 1, episode 21, "The Boarder Incident" (1962). Pickles is staying with her mother, leaving Buddy alone at home. He feels lonely in his empty house, so he sleeps at the office.
• The Bob Newhart Show: Season 1, episode 24, "Who's Been Sleeping on My Couch?" (1973). Bob discovers that Jerry has been sleeping on the couch in his office because his girlfriend broke up with him, and his apartment reminds him of her.
• WKRP in Cincinnati: Season 1, episode 15, "Never Leave Me, Lucille" (1979). Herb and his wife are separated, and Herb has nowhere to go, so he sleeps on the couch in the office.
• Taxi: Season 4, episode 7, "Louie's Mom Remarries" (1981). When Louie's mom tells him she's getting married, Louie is so opposed to it that he moves out of the house and sleeps in his office.
• Buffalo Bill: Season 2, episode 9, "The Girl on the Jetty" (1984). When Karl's wife kicks him out, he spends the night in his office and uses the shower in Bill's dressing room, upsetting Woody considerably.
• It's a Living: Season 4, episode 14, "The Evictables" (1987). When Ginger and Amy both get evicted from their apartments, they end up sleeping in the lounge at the restaurant.
• Perfect Strangers: Season 2, episode 13, "Since I Lost My Baby" (1987). Mr. Twinkacetti sleeps in his office when his wife kicks him out for forgetting their anniversary for 16 years in a row.
• Night Court: Season 7, episode 6, "For Love or Money" (1989). After missing out in a rent controlled apartment he thought was a lock, Dan is reduced to sleeping in his office until he can find a new one.
• Wings: Season 3, episode 3, episode 4, "I Ain't Got No Bunny" (1991). After his wife kicks him out of the house because of his jealousy, Lowell sleeps inside Joe's plane in the hangar.
• Herman's Head: Season 1, episode 22, "Bracken Up is Hard to Do" (1992). Mr. Bracken is sleeping in his office because his wife kicked him out.
• The Larry Sanders Show: Season 2, episode 17, "The Grand Opening" (1993). Hank is getting so busy and stressed out because of the grand opening of his restaurant, Hank's Lookaround Cafe, that he's been sleeping in his office in between angry phone calls with napkin manufacturers.
• Wings: Season 5, episode 13, "Oh Give Me a Home Where the Mathers Don't Roam" (1994). When Joe and Brian ask Lowell to move out, he first sleeps in the terminal, and when Joe tells him he can't do that, Lowell sleeps in Joe's office instead.
• Spin City: Season 2, episode 16, "Deaf Man Walking" (1998). When Stacy tells her parents that she wants to get her own apartment, her dad is so angry that he tells her to get out right that moment. With nowhere else to stay, Stacy spends the night in Mike's office.
• Spin City: Season 4, episode 7 "The Great Debate" (1999). Claudia's mother is staying with her and Paul, and when Paul tries to stick her with a bill for a home-cooked meal, she throws him out of the house, so he sleeps in his office.
• Just Shoot Me!: Season 4, episode 11, "Prescription for Love" (2000). Due to both of them getting kicked out of their apartments, Nina and Finch find themselves sleeping at the office, and their propinquity leads to their becoming good friends, but only until they find new places to live.
• Black Books: Season 3, episode 1, "Manny Come Home" (2004). Manny and Bernard get into a big fight, and Bernard fires Manny, so he gets a job at the Goliath Books that just opened next door. Bernard feels betrayed, so he evicts Manny from their apartment. With nowhere else to go, Manny sleeps in a sleeping bag on the counter at work, gets caught, and gets a dressing down from his boss.
• The Office (US): Season 2, episode 7, "The Client" (2005). While Michael and Jan are at at Chili's giving sales pitch to Lackawanna County, Dwight waits for Michael at the office, but Michael doesn't come back, so Dwight sleeps there. Michael and Jan finally come back the next morning after a drunken night of making out and deep conversation.
