Camping Out
One or more characters go camping in a place where people don't normally go camping; it's never as fun as they think it'll be.

- Are You Being Served?: Season 1, episode 3, "Camping In" (1973). The city's public transportation workers go on strike, stranding the staff of Grace Brothers in the store for the night, so Mr. Rumbold gets the bright idea to have everyone camp out on the floor using tents and supplies from other departments.
- The Bob Newhart Show: Season 5, episode 7, "Send This Boy to Camp" (1976). When Howard tells Bob and Emily that Howie went off to camp, Bob reveals that he never got to camping as a kid, so he and Howard decide to join Jerry on a camping trip with two boys from the orphanage where Jerry grew up. Unfortunately, due to their lack of planning, they end up having to camp out in a parking lot in the middle of the city.
- ALF: Season 3, episode 22, "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" (1989). To help Brian get over his fear of the dark ahead of his first scout camping trip, Jake and Alf take him camping in the backyard.
- Bottom: Season 2, episode 6, "'s Out" (1992). To hide from a guy who wants to kick their arses, Richie drags Eddie on a camping trip in a crappy, polluted corner of Wimbledon Common, where they're terrorized by a flasher and a crazed, naked homeless man.
