The gang's last-minute Christmas tree is reminiscent of Charlie Brown's.

- The Bob Newhart Show: Season 2, episode 15, "I'm Dreaming of a Slight Christmas" (1973). Bob shops for a Christmas tree on Christmas Eve, and all he can find is a tiny, scrawny tree for $12 (~$86 in today's money).
- Too Close for Comfort: Season 3, episode 11, "Mr. Christmas" (1982). When Andrew suddenly develops a fever, the Rushes have to cancel their ski trip plans and stay home for Christmas. Henry goes out to buy a tree and comes home with a tiny, scrawny thing that cost him $35 (~$114 in today's money).
- Perfect Strangers: Season 2, episode 11, "A Christmas Story" (1986). A Christmas Eve blizzard prevents Larry and Balki from going to Madison to spend Christmas with the Appletons, so Balki, who is determined to have a nice Christmas in Chicago, tries to buy a Christmas tree, but all the salesman has left is a dead-looking pile of twigs in the dumpster, which he lets Balki have for free.
- ALF: Season 1, episode 12, "Oh, Tannerbaum" (1986). ALF mistakenly chops the Tanners' Christmas tree into firewood, so Willie has to buy one at the last minute. The only one available is missing most of its needles.
- Bottom: Season 2, episode 5, "Holy" (1992). It's Christmas, and Richie sent Eddie out to get a tree, but he came back with what looks like a single branch in a flower pot.
- 3rd Rock from the Sun: Season 2, episode 12, "Jolly Old St. Dick" (1996). Christmas is coming, so Harry buys a Christmas try that looks like a live action version of Charlie Brown's, complete with a big red Christmas ball on top.
- Just Shoot Me!: Season 3, episode 10, "How the Finch Stole Christmas" (1998). It's Christmas, and Elliot living A Charlie Brown Christmas in real life. He goes out to get a Christmas tree and comes back with a single skimpy branch that falls apart when he touches it.
