• The Mary Tyler Moore Show: Season 3, episode 3, "Who's in Charge Here?" (1972). Lou gets promoted to program manager and appoints Murray producer in his place, but neither is happy with his new position.
• The Mary Tyler Moore Show: Season 6, episode 15, "What Do You Want to Do When You Produce?" (1975). Murray jumps at the chance to produce The Happy Homemaker, but working with Sue Ann turns out to be a nightmare.
• The Bob Newhart Show: Season 4, episode 14, "A Matter of Vice-Principal" (1975). Emily gets promoted to vice principal, and the job is overwhelming. Her predecessor let things get weeks behind, the school has hardly any budget, and her two teacher friends, Ed and Janet Hoffman, resent her because they thought Ed was getting the job.
• Are You Being Served?: Season 7, episode 4, "Mrs. Slocombe, Senior Person" (1979). Mrs. Slocombe fills in for Mr. Rumbold while he's ill. At first, she enjoys the executive treatment, but she starts to get bored and lonely sitting him Mr. Rumbold's office by herself all day.
• Cheers: Season 6, episode 20, "The Sam in the Grey Flannel Suit" (1988). Mr. Drake unexpectedly promotes Sam to Eastern Regional Sales Manager and gives him an office in the corporate building, but he doesn't seem to have anything to do except play on the company softball team. Eventually, Rebecca tells him that he was hired as a ringer to help the team win.
