Appearances
- The Simpsons: Season 3, episode 1, "Stark Raving Dad" (1991). Homer is committed in an asylum that resembles the one from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, but their tall Native American man talks normally.
- Spaced: Season 2, episode 3, "Mettle" (2001). Daisy gets a job washing dishes at a restaurant, and the kitchen bares a striking resemblance to the asylum from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, complete with a large mute native man, a nervous young guy named Billy, and a boss whom anyone could mistake for Nurse Ratched.
- It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Season 4, episode 10, "Sweet Dee Has a Heart Attack" (2008). After downing a bunch of anti-anxiety pills with beer, Frank wanders around the city in a haze and ends up in a mental hospital very similar to the one from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, (which Danny DeVito should recognize, as he had a small part in the film) down to the Nurse Ratched lookalike. To make good his escape, Frank tells a large, mute Native American man to throw a water cooler through a window so he can climb out.
- Still Game: Season 7, episode 5, "Down and Out" (2016). After their building is scheduled to be demolished, Jack, Victor, and Isa are talked into staying at a local care home while their new flats are being built, but while it was described like a luxury resort, the care home turns out to be more like the asylum in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and the seemingly nice, helpful manager, turns out to be more like Nurse Ratched. They all manage to sneak out one night, and the next morning, a tall Indian (Navid) breaks a glass door with a water cooler and escapes.
