Let's Write a Song
Two or more characters work together to write a song, usually for a contest. Often it has them at each other's throats.
The Golden Girls

- Newhart: Season 3, episode 21, "The Prodigal Darryl" (1985). Larry, Darryl, and Darryl win a contest by writing a popcorn jingle.
- The Golden Girls: Season 2, episode 6, "Big Daddy's Little Lady" (1986). Rose and Dorothy decide to team up to write a song for a Miami song contest, and they win second place.
- Frasier: Season 3, episode 3, "Martin Does It His Way" (1995). When Frasier and Niles learn that Martin wrote a song for Frank Sinatra, the offer to help him with the music so he can send it to the Chairman of the Board.
- Father Ted: Season 2, episode 5, "A Song for Europe" (1996). When Ted hears that his rival, Father Dick Byrne, and the gang from Rugged Island are competing in the Eurovision song contest, he can't pass up the opportunity to best him. He and Dougal struggle to write a song, so they decide to steal the tune from an obscure old song.
- Frasier: Season 7, episode 13, "They're Playing Our Song" (2000). Kenny has asked all of the radio personalities at KACL to come up with jingles for their respective shows, so Frasier decides to write one himself, and Niles volunteers to help. The result is a massive production with a full orchestra, choir, and pretentious monologue that Kenny immediately shoots down.
