Plastic Fantastic
A character considers having plastic surgery. Usually, the rest of the gang tries to talk them out of it. Most of the time, they change their mind and decide not to go through with it.

- Rhoda: Season 3, episode 21, "Nose Job" (1977). Brenda wants to have a nose job because she thinks it will make her beautiful; Rhoda keeps trying to convince her that she's beautiful already.
- Mork & Mindy: Season 3, episode 8, "Mork's New Look" (1981). After running into a youthful-looking former high school classmate, Fred tells Mork he's considering plastic surgery, and Mork considers it too. Mork asks Mindy who her "perfect 10" is, and she says it's her dad, so Mork decides he wants to look like Fred. The surgeon laughs at his request, so he settles for a bald cap and a new suit. His new look flatters Fred, who decides his old face isn't so bad.
- Too Close for Comfort: Season 4, episode 2, "Making Mountains Out of Molehills" (1984). Jackie's jealous of all the attention Sara gets because of her obvious physical assets, so she decides to get breast implants, but when she talks to the other women in the waiting room at surgeon's office, she changes her mind.
- Too Close for Comfort: Season 5, episode 8, "The Two Faces of Muriel" (1985). After seeing Henry gush over an old friend who had a facelift, Muriel starts thinking about getting one too, but instead, she plays a practical joke on Henry.
- Cheers: Season 3, episode 16, "Teacher's Pet" (1985). Cliff feels self-conscious about his ears and announces that he's getting them pinned back, but when he finds out his insurance won't cover it, he changes his mind.
- It's a Living: Season 3, episode 14, "The Doctor Danny Show" (1986). Sonny is considering plastic surgery to give him "Kirk Douglas's chin."
- The Golden Girls: Season 2, episode 20, "Whose Face is This, Anyway?" (1987). Blanche is upset because all her former sorority sisters had facelifts, and they all look "gorgeous," which means she's no longer the center of attention, and after seeing herself on camera in a video Rose made, she decides to get all the plastic surgery, but when her surgeon asks her out, she gets a confidence boost and changes her mind.
- It's a Living: Season 5, episode 14, "Skin Deep" (1988). Howard has been flirting with a beautiful young woman who runs a newsstand, so Nancy decides to have plastic surgery so she can compete with the object of Howard's affections, but after a conversation with Ginger, she changes her mind.
- Cheers: Season 8, episode 4, "How to Marry a Mailman" (1989). Rebecca gets into a fender bender with a plastic surgeon, who offers her a free procedure of her choice if she doesn't report the accident to his insurance company, but she can't decide what she wants done. After her appointment, she reveals that she decided to have a tattoo removed instead.
- The Golden Girls: Season 4, episode 22, "Sophia's Choice" (1989). Blanche gets a bonus at work and wants to use it to get breast implants, but she decides to use it to help a friend of Sophia's get out of a shitty nursing home instead.
- Seinfeld: Season 3, episode 8, "The Nose Job" (1991). George is dating a friend of Elaine's named Audrey, and he can't stop fixating on her larger-than-average nose. After Kramer blurts out that she "needs a nose job," George encourages her to do it, but the surgery is a disaster, and George breaks up with her anyway.
- Wings: Season 4, episode 3, "Noses Off" (1992). When a doctor points out a so-called bump in his nose, Brian decides to get a nose job.
- Dream On: Season 4, episode 23, "A Face Worse Than Death" (1994). Martin's mother comes to New York to get a facelift without telling her boyfriend, Harry, but she has a heart attack on the table, and Martin has to tell Harry the truth.
- Seinfeld: Season 6, episode 20, "The Fusilli Jerry" (1995). George's mom is getting an "eye job," and she asks George to drive her to and from the procedure, but since he'll be busy with work, he asks Kramer to do it, not knowing that Kramer was about to pick up his new license plate, which reads, "ASSMAN."
- The Nanny: Season 3, episode 20, "Your Feet Are Too Big" (1996). Fran's mom feels that her husband isn't attracted to her anymore, so she wants to have her "arms done." She changes her mind when she discovers her insurance won't cover it unless she was in her home and "run over by farm equipment."
- Just Shoot Me!: Season 1, episode 3, "Secretary's Day" (1997). A famous plastic surgeon offers Nina a free procedure of her choice as a thank you for sending models to him over the years, and she's considering breast implants. She walks around the office wearing fake breasts just to try them out, but Maya shows her a tape of a story she did on the dangers of plastic surgery, and Nina changes her mind.
- Just Shoot Me!: Season 3, episode 4, "Funny Girl" (1998). Jack tells Nina he has some questions about plastic surgery, and she assumes he's getting work done, and after he's mistaken for Allie's father again, Jack considers doing it.
- Dharma & Greg: Season 1, episode 17, "The Official Dharma & Greg Episode of the 1998 Winter Olympics" (1998). Kitty is turning 50, and to celebrate, she plans to get a bunch of plastic surgery so she doesn't actually look 50, but Dharma, Abby, and Jane are convinced it's bad idea, so they try to talk her out of it.
- 3rd Rock from the Sun: Season 3, episode 5, "Dick and Tuck" (1999). When Mary and Nina fawn over Harrison Ford, Dick gets jealous and decides to have plastic surgery, but just before he goes into surgery, he realizes that his face holds a lot of memories, and he changes his mind.
- Curb Your Enthusiasm: Season 4, episode 2, "Ben's Birthday Party" (2004). Richard Lewis's friend's daughter, who calls him "Uncle Richard," wants to be an actress, and she's thinking of getting breast implants, but Richard knows this would drive her father crazy, so he asks Larry to help him talk her out of it.
- Arrested Development: Season 3, episode 8, "Making a Stand" (2005). Lucille decides to get another facelift, and she recovers at the model home. When she comes out for a drink, Maeby sees her and is so horrified that she decides to use post-op Lucille's look for a monster in a movie she's working on, which she calls "Gangie."
- The Office (US): Season 3, episode 23, "The Job" (2007). Jan, with whom Michael recently broke up, shows up at the office with a new, much bigger, pair of boobs, and Michael is so wowed by them that he decides to get back together with her.
