A character is using a parabolic microphone and hears something very loud right next to the mic, which hurts their ears.

• Father Ted: Season 3, episode 3, "Speed 3" (1998). Ted and Dougal are spying on Pat Mustard, the milkman, with Dougal on the parabolic microphone. He turns the volume all the way up to try to hear Pat Mustard inside a house when a car drives by and honks its horn.
• Just Shoot Me!: Season 3, episode 17, "Toy Story" (1999). Finch plays a prank on Elliot for his birthday by switching the card on his gift from Maya (a video game system) with the on on his gift from Persky (a bag full of sex toys), and when Maya invites Elliot over to try out her gift, Finch hangs outside her apartment door with a parabolic microphone and screams when Elliot opens the door and yells right into the mic.
• Frasier: Season 7, episode 18, "Hot Pursuit" (2000). Niles is helping Martin with a stakeout, and accidentally honks the car horn while wearing the headphones for the parabolic microphone.
