A housewife realizes her family doesn't appreciate everything she does for them, so she decides to teach them a lesson. Usually she does this by neglecting her daily household chores or taking a vacation alone.

- The Patty Duke Show: Season 1, episode 23, "Are Mothers People?" (1964). Natalie feels her family doesn't appreciate her and tries several methods to get their attention, like pretending to be sick and going for a spa day.
- Good Times: Season 2, episode 1, "Florida Flips" (1974). Florida has been blowing up at everyone lately, and the family can't figure out why. When she gets so angry that she slaps Michael, Florida runs out of the house and doesn't come back until late that night. She attends a women's group meeting with Willona and realizes she has dedicated her whole life to her husband and children and lost herself as an individual, so she decides to take some night school classes to improve herself.
- Good Times: Season 3, episode 22, "Florida the Woman" (1976). When Florida gets fed up with her family's constant demands, she decides to have lunch with her boss and gets drunk on sake.
- The Goldbergs: Season 1, episode 10, "Shopping" (2013). When Beverly takes too much advantage of Erica's employee discount at her new job, Erica frames her for shoplifting, and the ensuing argument results in Erica basically telling her mother that her life is meaningless. To prove how important she is to the family, Beverly goes on strike and stops cooking, cleaning, and shopping.
