A character re-decorates a shared living space in a way that another member of the household hates.

Appearances
- The Mary Tyler Moore Show: Season 2, episode 13, "The Square-shaped Room" (1971). Edie has been telling Lou that she wants to redecorate the living room, so while she's away, he hires Rhoda to do the job. When she unveils the magazine-inspired room, Lou proclaims that he loves it, but when Rhoda's out of earshot, he confesses to Mary that he hates it and wants all his old furniture back. When Edie comes home, she tells Lou that she loves the new paint color.
- The Odd Couple: Season 3, episode 22, "Take My Furniture, Please" (1973). Felix is tired of Oscar's furniture, so he decides to redecorate. Oscar comes home to find his apartment full of weird furniture, like chairs shaped like hands, and a clock without hands. Oscar retaliates by replace everything with cheap thrift store furniture. Eventually, they have to compromise and find a look that fits them both.
- The Bob Newhart Show: Season 3, episode 21, "The New Look" (1975). Emily redecorates the apartment and gives away all their old furniture, but Bob hates the new look and feels very uncomfortable in the antique furniture, and his complaining convinces Emily to sell everything and redecorate again.
- Northern Exposure: Season 4, episode 20, "Homesick" (1993). Now that Shelly and Holling are married, Shelly feels that she wants their home to reflect her personality, so she decides to re-decorate. The result is a pink, frilly, floral nightmare that could double as Barbie's dream house, and Holling is so uncomfortable that he becomes constipated.
