One and Done
A character decides to pursue a lifelong dream, whether it's to write book, perform on stage, sell used cars, etc. They accomplish their dream, and it's a big success, but they decide that now that it's out of their system, they don't want to do it again.

- Mr. Belvedere: Season 3, episode 3, "Debut" (1986). After a near death experience, George quits his job to fulfill his dream of being a lounge singer, but he decides his first performance will be his last and goes back his normal life.
- Newhart: Season 6, episode 16, "Would You Buy a Used Car from This Handyman" (1988). George finally gets a chance to live his dream of being a used car salesman, but after a few days, he's ready to call it quits and go back to being a handyman.
- The Golden Girls: Season 5, episode 9, "Comedy of Errors" (1989). Dorothy wants to pursue her dream of being a stand-up comedian, and at her first gig, she kills, but she decides she never wants to do it again.
- Dream On: Season 5, episode 9, "Those Who Can't, Edit" (1994). Jeremy writes a novel, and Martin is excited to help him with his writing career, but after Jeremy's book gets published by Random House, he decides he's "done with the writing thing."
- Dream On: Season 6, episode 12, "Flight of the Pedalbee" (1995). After listening to a series of self-help tapes, Toby decides to make her dream a reality by staging her one-woman show. It's a big success, but Toby has no plans for a career in show business. She tells Martin it's not about being a star, "it's about doing it."
