The Plots Thicken
Family members get into a conflict about where they're going to be buried when they die. Usually one or more parents have purchased plots for their child or children.

- The Dick Van Dyke Show: Season 3, episode 25, "The Plots Thicken" (1964). Rob's dad announces that he bought cemetery plots for his whole family, but Laura's parents already bought plots for her and Rob when they got married.
- Newhart: Season 3, episode 20, "R.I.P. Off" (1985). Harley is selling burial plots, so Dick offers to buy some for him and Joanna, but Joanna says her parents already had a plot for her.
- Dream On: Season 3, episode 9, "May Divorce Be With You" (1992). Martin's parents announce that they're getting divorced, and they argue over who gets to be buried next to Martin, even though Martin and Judith already have their own plots.
- Frasier: Season 7, episode 5, "The Dog That Rocks Cradle" (1999). After Frasier and Niles pressure Martin to plan for his future funeral, he shows the burial plot he bought, then surprises them with their own plots next to him, but Niles has been negotiating for a plot in a swanky cemetery for rich people.
