After his talk show doesn't get picked up for a second season, Alan Partridge finds himself living in a "travel tavern" and begging for work in television. This show follows the bumbling Alan as he amuses the hotel staff, annoys his longsuffering assistant, and takes whatever paying gigs he can get.

Season 1
- The Shrine: Episode 5, "To Kill a Mocking Alan" (1997). Alan meets a fan of his named Jed, who lets him pretend they're roommates so two Irish TV executives won't know he lives in a hotel, but Alan's shocked to find that Jed has a whole room packed with Alan Partridge memorabilia.
Season 2
- Tax Audit: Episode 5, "I Know What Alan Did Last Summer" (2002). Alan is selected for a random tax investigation, and he asks Lynne to lie to them for him, but she's reluctant because she's a Baptist. To make matters worse, the inspectors show up early, and Sonja comes home unexpectedly and starts ranting about not paying taxes.
